International students about us

Chris, France

Before leaving France everyone asked me ‘why Poland?’ And the only answer that I could give was ‘why not?’ When I arrived in Poland the most common question was ‘why Poland?’ And I was saying ‘why not?’ Because I didn’t have any other right answer!
Now I know Poland better, so I can answer something more. I can say that I met a lot of nice people here in Katowice. I can say that the University of Economics gave the possibility to attend courses with Polish students who speak English perfectly. Now I can also say that I feel home, the language barriers don’t make me afraid anymore and if I have the chance to come back I will certainly do it.

Antonella, Italy

Before leaving, I didn’t know much about Poland and especially about Katowice. They were like a black closed box to me. Now after living here for 4 months, I can say to be greatly satisfied with the content of the box. Very nice and kind people at the International Relations Office warmly welcomed us and had been helping us continuously during our stay in Katowice. At the university the English Track Courses put us in contact with a lot of Polish students. After few days, these contacts were replaced by good friendships.

Since my arrival in Katowice I have been pleasantly surprised many times. My knowledge about Poland proved to be old-fashioned. The people in Poland are warm and friendly; they are always willing to offer a helping hand. Although Katowice is a heavily industrialized area, it still has to offer many nice places. The English Programme at the university contains many interesting subjects about Poland. The classes are informal and pleasant, a great way to meet many Polish students, who have a great knowledge about English. I very much appreciate all the effort people at the university made to make my stay in Katowice unforgettable!

What I liked most about staying in Katowice was the social programme organized for us. Studying is very important but you cannot really enjoy your life without partying and having fun!! First we got to know one another and our countries during Global Village, then we were visiting many beautiful Polish cities (Kraków, Wroc³aw, Poznań, Gdańsk, Warsaw) We also had a chance to meet a lot of AIESEC trainees from all over the world – great experience!!! In winter time we went skiing and skating – some of us for the first time in our lives so we had really lots of fun! Katowice is not the most exciting place you can imagine – to say the least – but you can party a lot in good company in nice pubs, bowling clubs, discos. It is also a good starting place to travel to the most beautiful capitals in this part of Europe (short distances, direct train connections). I myself visited Budapest, Prague, Vienna and Berlin! So, as you can see, I definitely had the time of my life here!!!

That was really great! I appreciate the help I’ve got from the International Relations Office team. I had the best time in Katowice and wish the time travel was possible so I could move to the last October and so the experience was just about to start!

It was a pleasure to study at Karol Adamiecki University. There are not so many students per class, and the direct relations between the teachers and the students can be built quickly. The methods and content of the university courses allow the foreign students to get a global overview of the economy using specific examples. But what would life be without a bit of fun? Fortunately, students from Erasmus Student Network care for the international students and make our lives easy. Doing a part of my studies in Katowice was the best opportunity to meet Polish people, get to know Poland and its economy. I like the country and the lifestyle.
