Accreditation:

The high quality of teaching in the University of Economics in Katowice study programmes, both on bachelor and master level, has been confirmed by accreditation certificates awarded by the Accreditation Committee of the Foundation for the Promotion and Accreditation of Economic Education in Warsaw. The following study programmes have been awarded quality of education certificates: Management and Marketing, Informatics and Econometrics, Economics, Finance and Banking. Moreover, Management and Marketing has been awarded a quality of education certificate by the State Accreditation Committee.

Academic accreditation is the most important method of evaluating the quality of teaching at institutions of higher education. The purpose of the accreditation process is to confirm that the university meets certain quality of education standards and criteria, and to carry out an evaluation procedure, whose results will serve to improve the quality. During accreditation, the university's mission and the results of its implementation are assessed, including the study programme, teaching process organization, studying conditions (didactic and social facilities, library, IT facilities), teaching staff's qualifications and their academic research, concern for the graduates' careers etc. The accreditation procedure comprises two elements: self-evaluation carried out by the interested institution itself and the assessment given by the visiting expert team, appointed by the Foundation for the Promotion and Accreditation of Economic Education. Peer accreditation is initiated by universities vitally interested in evaluating and improving the quality of education, and is the manifestation of concern for the quality of teaching. The accreditation is voluntary and allows for determining study programmes of outstanding quality. The information about a university's accreditation is also helpful in choosing a school which provides the knowledge and develops the skills and attitudes that professionals need. In future, employers will be seeking graduates of schools that have taken the challenge of quality evaluation and obtained a certificate.
